Thank you for visiting our website and we hope you will find the site helpful and informative. Wildlife Welfare is a totally voluntarily run rescue relying solely on kind donations from the general public. We take in all species of wild bird and mammal (excluding hedgehogs) and cover the county of Hertfordshire, along with some areas of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. As the rescue area we cover is extremely large we are unable to come out and collect wildlife casualties, and therefore ask that these are kindly brought to us. However, we're always very happy to give help and advice over the phone. We DO NOT run a sanctuary for disabled or imprinted wildlife as we aim, wherever possible, to return our casualties back to the wild. As we lack the expertise we're also unable to take in, or give advice, on any reptile or amphibian problem.
Our aims are to nurse sick, injured and orphaned wildlife casualties until they are fit and well enough to be released back into the wild, whilst at the same time ensuring that we avoid imprinting. We also aim to promote awareness and understanding of our environment, and the hazards faced by our British wildlife. The welfare of our casualties is assessed at all times, with veterinary input where appropriate.
